ECHL Adirondack Thunder

Gameday: Adirondack at Brampton

October 23, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Adirondack Thunder News Release

Thunder Struck: The Adirondack Thunder struck on a positive note as they defeated the Elmira Jackals in their franchise debut last Friday in Elmira. The Thunder put on a dominant display offensively to cruise past the Jackals and open the season on the right foot.

On The Marc: Louick Marcotte netted 2 goals in his ECHL debut last Friday in Elmira, with his first period tally marking the first goal in Adirondack Thunder history, the first goal of his professional career and the first goal of the 2015-16 season leaguewide.

How 'Bout Them Apples: Ken Appleby also opened his professional career on the plus side as he turned aside 29 of 30 Elmira shots he saw for his first career professional victory. The netminder is the only Thunder player on an NHL contract, having been assigned by New Jersey.

No Longer Deur-ment: Defenseman Mathieu Brodeur doubled his career offensive output in the ECHL with two points (1-1-2) in Friday's win over Elmira. The 6-6 defenseman had recorded one point in 55 previous ECHL contests but has 53 points in 202 AHL games played.

Power Surge: The Thunder power-play unit was powerful indeed as they opened the season with two goals from four chances in their win over Elimra. Marcotte and Brodeur each converted with the man advantage as the Thunder capitalized on four Elmira penalties.

Busy Weekend: The Thunder will see no rest for the weary this weekend as they enter their first three-in-three set. After tonight's contest in Brampton, the team will travel back to Glens Falls for their Home Opener on Saturday, before they visit Manchester for a Sunday matinee.
