
Game Recap: SeaWolves Road Trip Ends with Loss to Altoona

The Altoona Curve closed out the series with a convincing 10-4 win over the SeaWolves Thursday night.
Steven Moya led off the scoring for Erie a two out RBI single up the middle of of J.T. Brubaker that brought in Dawel Lugo in the first inning.
Altoona took the 3-1 lead thanks to a Jin-De Jhang opposite field home run in the bottom of the first off of A.J. Ladwig. A throwing error to second from A.J. Simcox allowed Wyatt Mathisen to score all the way from first. Justin Maffei singled in Jordan George in the ensuing at-bat allowing the Curve to extend the lead to 5-1 going into the second inning.
Will Maddox picked up his first RBI for Erie in the second inning with a two out single to right that scored Grayson Greiner to bring the SeaWolves within three at 5-2.
Jhang belted in two more runs on a base hit in the second inning to extend the lead to 7-2 for the Curve. Mathisen knocked in the catcher to make it 8-2, which ended A.J. Ladwig's day on the mound.
The SeaWolves fought back in the third inning against Brubaker. Gabriel Quintana flared a single to right that brought in Christin Stewart, and then Zack Cox scored Moya on a groundout to second. Altoona lead the SeaWolves 8-4 going into the bottom of the third.
Altoona scored again in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from Pablo Reyes to bring the lead back to five for the Curve at 9-4.
The Curve scored another in the fourth inning on another RBI single from Wyatt Mathisen off of Victor Alcantara to bring the lead up to 10-4.
Quintana singled in another run in the ninth for his second RBI single in the 9th, but Altoona held on to win 10-5.
Ladwig (7-4) dropped a loss and J.T. Brubaker (6-4) earned a win for the Altoona Curve.
LHP Matt Crouse (6-4, 4.27 ERA) will pitch for Erie Friday as the team returns to UPMC Park to start a three game set against the Hartford Yard Goats. The Rockies affiliate send RHP Craig Schlitter (0-3, 12.38 ERA) to the mound to make the series opening start.
Friday is Harry Potter Night at UPMC Park! The first 1,000 fans will receive a C. Wolf Quidditch Bobblehead presented by Fullington Trailways, as the ballpark will transform into Hogwarts in Downtown Erie.
The SeaWolves will don special replica throwback jerseys as part of Fauxback Friday at UPMC Park! Fans can also enjoy a post-game autograph session with a SeaWolves player and C.Wolf presented by Plyler Entry Systems.
