
New Hampshire's Three-Run Fifth Costs Baysox in 3-0 Loss

MANCHESTER, N.H.- New Hampshire's three-run fifth cost the Bowie Baysox (58-52) in a 3-0 loss to the Fisher Cats (45-65) in the series finale on Thursday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.
This marks the first time that Bowie has been shutout since a 4-0 loss to Reading in game two of a doubleheader on June 7.
In the afore-mentioned three-run fifth, Tim Lopes reached with a one-out single and scored from first on Emilio Guerrero's RBI double to put the hosts on the board. Guerrero advanced to third when Gunnar Heidt reached on an error charged to Baysox 2B Erick Salcedo and both runners scored on Richard Urena's two-out, two-run double to extend the New Hampshire lead to 3-0.
Bowie starter David Hess (8-8) allowed the three runs (one earned) on five hits to go along with two walks and five strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Fisher Cats starter Ryan Borucki (1-1) gave up six hits while fanning seven over his seven shutout innings. RHP Francisco Rios (1.0 IP, K) and RHP Carlos Ramirez (1.0 IP, K) combined to close things out for New Hampshire and Ramirez picked up his second save of the year.
RHP Jason Garcia (1.0 IP, H, K) had a scoreless outing in relief for manager Gary Kendall's squad.
The Baysox head to Portland to open a three-game set with the Sea Dogs on Friday night at Hadlock Field. First pitch of the series opener is set for 7:00 p.m. with RHP Jesus Liranzo (1-3, 5.09) on the mound for Bowie against Portland LHP Dedgar Jimenez (2-0, 3.60).
