Curve Shut out by SeaWolves on Wednesday

CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve were held to just three hits and blanked by the Erie SeaWolves, 2-0, on Wednesday night PNG Field.

The Curve (56-52) were shut out for the fourth time this season and the second time by Erie (55-54).

The SeaWolves broke a scoreless tie in the second inning. With runners on first and second, recently-acquired Dawel Lugo hit an RBI single to get Erie on the board. Christin Stewart came up next and he lined an RBI single of his own to extend the lead to 2-0, capping the scoring.

Curve starter Casey Sadler (Loss, 1-2) allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings, striking out five. Brandon Cumpton and Luis Heredia each pitched two scoreless innings.

Erie starter Tyler Alexander (Win, 6-6) pitched 7.1 shutout innings. He allowed just three hits and struck out eight. Kurt Spomer came in to get one out in the eighth inning before Bryan Garcia (Save, 8) picked up the final four outs, striking out two.

The Curve will conclude their homestand on Thursday with the finale in the four-game series against Erie. Right-hander J.T. Brubaker (5-4, 4.66) will start for Altoona, while Erie will counter with right-hander A.J. Ladwig (7-3, 4.15). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Thursday will feature an appearance by the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo, presented by Peoples Natural Gas. It will also be Thirstday, featuring $2 specials on Yuengling 16 oz. draft beers and regular-size sodas and $1 hot dogs, presented by Q94_
