
GAME RECAP: Gibson and Erie Offense Crush Akron 13-4

Cam Gibson's five-RBI performance assisted Erie (50-54) past the Akron RubberDucks (62-43) in the 13-4 win.
Bobby Bradley smacked a solo home run off of Beau Burrows in the top of the second to put Akron up 1-0.
The SeaWolves blasted three home runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead. Josh Lester drove a ball to right on Aaron Civale for his 10th home run of the season to tie the game. With two men on, Josh Thole knocked in Isaac Paredes to give Erie the lead. After Thole reached, Cam Gibson crushed a three-run homer to right field to push the lead to 5-1. Danny Woodrow homered in the ensuing at-bat for his second professional home run on a solo bomb for the third home run of the inning, and Erie led 6-1.
Akron fought back within four in the third inning on a Tyler Krieger RBI-single.
Josh Lester stayed hot in the bottom of the third inning, leading off with a line-drive home run to right field. Thole hit into a double play to bring in the second run of the inning, and Gibson singled in the third to jump erie up to a 9-2 lead.
The RubberDucks pushed two more runs in on Burrows in the fourth inning. Daniel Saltersknocked in a run on a single, and Andrew Calica walked with the bases loaded to make it 9-4.
Erie added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Argenis Angulo started the inning on the mound for Akron, finding the second out quickly after walking Will Maddox. Josh Thole singled to push runners on the corners, setting up Gibson to plate his fifth RBI of the game on a single. After Angulo loaded the bases with a Woodrow walk, Kieran Lovegrove gave Sergio Alcantara a free base and an RBI. Daz Cameron floated a single to centerfield to push two runs home, and Erie advanced to a 13-4 lead.
Burrows (8-7) worked the win after five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with three walks and eight strikeouts. Civale (5-4) takes the loss after a rough outing, surrendering 10 hits, nine runs with two walks and no strikeouts.
