Brandon Wagner delivered a two-out, walk-off RBI-single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Thunder to a 3-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in front of a crowd of 7,155 at ARM & HAMMER Park on Saturday night.

With one out in the home half of the ninth and the score tied at 2-2, Trey Amburgey hit a double off the left field wall, putting the winning run on base for the Thunder (58-47). After Mandy Alvarez popped out to third, Wagner lined a 2-1 pitch from left-hander Josh Taylor into right-center field, scoring Amburgey and giving the Thunder their fourth win in five games.

A stellar effort by the Thunder bullpen helped set up the win. When starter Domingo Acevedo left the game due to apparent injury after a leadoff single in the fifth inning, Brady Lail entered with the score tied and stranded the inherited runner. Lail would retire all nine men he faced in relief, striking out four, before David Sosebee took over to begin the eighth and held Portland (43-61) scoreless across the final two innings.

Left-hander Dedgar Jimenez pitched seven innings as the Sea Dogs' starter. After allowing an RBI-single to Ryan McBroom in the first inning and a solo home run to Jhalan Jackson in the second, Jimenez held Trenton scoreless over his final five innings of work. The southpaw allowed nine hits and walked four while striking out just three, but stranded nine Thunder baserunners.

The 2-0 Thunder lead lasted until the fourth, when Acevedo allowed a leadoff single to Jeremy Rivera and then surrendered a game-tying two-run homer to Chad de la Guerra just inside the right field foul pole.

Your Thunder conclude their homestand on Sunday night at 5pm against the Sea Dogs. RHP Brian Keller (7-7, 3.76) will start for the Thunder, and RHP Mike Shawaryn (6-7, 3.29) will go for Portland. The first 1,025 fans ages 5 to 13 will receive an Aaron Judge mini bat, presented by Northfield Bank. Tickets are available by phone at 609-394-3300 or online at TrentonThunder.com.
