Matchup:
The Solar Bears face the Gwinnett Gladiators for the first time in the 2013-14 season. The two sides had a heated rivalry last season, with eight of the 12 games decided by only a single goal. The Gladiators played a pair of contests against the Greenville Road Warriors last weekend, dropping the first game 5-3 and falling 3-1 the following night. The Solar Bears are searching for their first win of the young season as well after matching up in a home-and-home series against the Florida Everblades last weekend. Orlando finished last season with a 2-9-1-0 record against the Gladiators.
Solar Bears Notes:
G John Curry was assigned to Orlando earlier this week and is expected to start in goal tonight... The Solar Bears have two players in D Tyler Murovich and D Corey Fienhage who played for Gwinnett last season... D Myles Harvey served the first two games of a four game suspension last weekend. He is eligible to return to the line up on Tuesday, October 29, when the Solar Bears visit the South Carolina Stingrays... Orlando killed off all 11 power plays they faced last weekend, including four 5-on-3 power plays for the Everblades... Orlando acquired the rights to F Francis Verreault-Paul from the Bakersfield Condors yesterday to complete the future considerations trade that saw George Hughes head to Bakersfield.
Gladiators Notes:
Gwinnett is playing their first road game of the season tonight... Gwinnett jumped out to a 2-0 lead in their season opener but surrendered three straight goals to the Road Warriors... Gwinnett went 1-for-4 on the power play last weekend, and their 25% conversion rate places them third in the ECHL... F Jonathan Narbonne is tied for first among rookies with a 50% shooting percentage.
