San Francisco Bulls News Release
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - The San Francisco Bulls (2-1-1-0) fought back from a pair of one-goal deficits to earn a 3-2 shootout victory over the Utah Grizzlies (1-1-2-0), Friday night at the Maverik Center. Mark Lee and Jordan Morrison scored in regulation, while Ryan McDonough tallied the lone goal in the shootout. Tyler Beskorowany stopped 28 shots in regulation and overtime, and all five attempts in the shootout.
The first period was relatively quiet until the Grizzlies grabbed the early lead when David Vallorani scored a power-play goal with 5:36 remaining. In the waning seconds of the period, the Bulls sent a flurry of shots at the Utah netminder, Igor Bobkov, but couldn't find the equalizer.
The action picked up considerably in the second period. At 7:46, the Bulls scored their first goal when Lee slammed home a loose puck in the crease. Assists came from Josh Kidd and Kyle Bigos. With 3: 21 remaining in the period, Utah took a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal from Kris Hogg. With less than eight seconds remaining in the second, Morrison fired a slapshot by Bobkov to tie the game at two on his second goal of the season. Damon Kip and Dale Mitchell registered assists on the play.
After a scoreless third period and overtime, the game went to a shootout. In the third round, McDonough rifled a shot by Bobkov. Beskorowany did the rest, stopping all five shots he faced to preserve the victory.
