
Aces Take First of Three-Game Series from Wranglers, 3-2

Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers fell 3-2 to the Alaska Aces tonight, kicking off the three-game series between the two teams with a back-and-forth goal battle.
Five minutes into the game, and 12 seconds into the team's first power play of the night, Wranglers defenseman Greg Coburn tallied a goal to give Las Vegas the quick 1-0 lead. The score carried over into the second, and at the 6:19 mark, Aces center Brendan Connolly posted a goal to make it a tie game. Eight minutes later, Alaska took their first lead of the night off the stick of Connolly once again, going up 2-1.
With seven minutes left in regulation, Wranglers center Chris Francis recorded the team's second power play goal of the night to knot the game 2-2. The tie was short-lived as Aces right wing Andy Taranto scored two minutes later, and the 3-2 lead held to secure the win for Alaska. In his season debut in net for the Wranglers, goalie Mitch O'Keefe made an impressive 42 saves on 45 shots as Alaska outshot Las Vegas 45-17.
The Wranglers and Aces play their next two games against each other, back at it again tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Halloween comes early on Sunday, Oct. 27, as costumed kids age 12 and under will get into the 2:05 p.m. game for free, and a safe trick-or-treat will take place along the concourse. Fans can skate with the Wranglers for free after the day game with limited skates provided.
