Matchup:
The Solar Bears are looking to rebound tonight after suffering a tough loss to Greenville in last night's matchup. A depleted Orlando squad was trailing the Road Warriors 3-2 going into the third period, but Greenville took control in the final frame to eventually defeat Orlando 9-3. It was the first time in three games between the two teams that overtime was not necessary to decide the winner. Despite a Solar Bears roster that features just five players with over 100 games of combined ECHL/AHL experience, Orlando has battled to a 5-5-0-0 record over their last 10 games. Greenville is current fourth in the Eastern Conference, and has put together a 5-4-0-1 record in their last 10 games.
Solar Bears Notes:
The Solar Bears are playing with a depleted lineup, as they have six players out due to injury (S. Lorenz, R. Ginand, C. Baldwin, C. Lawrence, J. Dudas, M. Brodeur) and seven players recalled the the AHL. Four are with Houston (N. Petersen, R. Mignardi, K. Medvec, J. Caron), one in Worcester (M. Wilson), one with Hamilton (O. Fortier), and one with Portland (B. Lampman), which would represent 12 of the 16 skaters that can be dressed for a game...G John Curry is tied for fourth in the ECHL with 13 wins... Orlando is 10-3-0-0 when scoring first, and 10-0-0-1 when leading after two periods... Orlando announced last week that the Solar Bears will inform the League at the League mid-season meetings of their intentions to place a bid to host the 2015 All-Star Game. The meetings will be held in Loveland, Colorado, during the All-Star break later this month... LW Nick Petersen was named to the ECHL All-Star Team last week, making him the first Solar Bear to be selected as an ECHL All-Star .
Road Warriors Notes:
F Brandon Wong is fourth in the ECHL with 43 points... D Steven Deslisle is tied for first in the league with a +21 plus/minus rating... D T.J. Reynolds is tied for fourth among ECHL defensemen with 26 minor penalties... Greenville is tied for sixth with 3.41 goals per game... The Road Warriors lead the league with 56 third-period goals... Greenville is 20th on the power play at 14.6 percent (24-for-164) and 21st on the penalty kill at 76.8 percent (129-for-168)... F Brandon Wong leads the Road Warriors with 19 goals and 43 points...
