Greenville, SC: Greenville finished a weekend sweep against Orlando with a 5-2 victory on Saturday night.
Greenville kicked off the scoring late in the first period. Levi Nelson flew into the zone as he beat Edward Levens on the outside wing. Nelson fed Bretton Cameron who played the pass off his skate to his stick and scored his sixth of the season. Cameron played in his first game since being injured on December 27th against Wheeling.
The Solar Bears tied the game at one early in the second period. Dan Gendur stepped into the zone and fired a blistering slap shot that beat Nathan Lieuwen glove side. C.J. Severyn scored another goal for Orlando exactly five minutes later on the power play. His 11th of the year put Orlando on top 2-1. Greenville would respond and tie the game at two. Bretton Stamler scored on a play developed by Danny Hobbs stealing the puck in the Orlando zone. Jordie Johnston closed the period out with his seventh of the year on a fantastic saucer pass coming from Brendan Connolly.
The third period remained tight until Brandon Wong broke the game open with 4:01 left. Wong scored his 20th of the year on the power play. Johnston tallied an empty netter for his second of the game and eighth of the year. Nathan Lieuwen won his 12th game with 33 saves and earned the second star. John Curry took the loss with 29 saves.
