ANCHORAGE, AK - The Ontario Reign (24-10-1-2), defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, lost their third straight game 4-1 against the Alaska Aces (30-8-0-1) before 4,944 at Sullivan Arena on Friday night.

A chippy first period began right away with the first scrum breaking out just 41 seconds into play between Jason Beeman and Chris Clackson. After the most physical frame of the season series, Alaska was first on the board. The puck came out of the Aces end and was picked up by Nick Mazzolini who breezed past Cameron Burt for a short-handed, breakaway chance. Mazzolini lit the lamp by beating Dustin Carlson's glove with just 27 seconds left in the period. At the 8:25 point of the second period Alaska jumped to a two-goal lead on another Reign giveaway. Carlson attempted to play the puck behind his net but shot it right toward two waiting Aces players at the right circle. Mazzolini picked up the puck and scored on a wide open Reign cage for the power-play goal; his second tally of the night. The Aces extended their lead to 3-0 as Zach Harrison pushed through the Reign defense to light the lamp again with a hard shot top shelf.

Drew O'Connell came in to relieve Carlson at the beginning of the third period. Avoiding being shutout, Mario Lamoureux netted the lone goal for the Reign at 16:22. O'Connell passed the puck to Justin Pender who skated it end-to-end and wrapped it around the Aces cage to Lamoureux who picked up the puck and, from his knees, wristed it past Mark Guggenberger. With an empty-net goal from Jordan Kremyr the Aces took a decisive 4-1 lead to end the game.

Guggenberger earned the win with 23 saves on 24 shots, Carlson took the loss with 9 stops on 12 shots and was replaced by O'Connell who stopped all 5 shots faced.
