TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (4-3-0-1) hit the road to take on the Stockton Thunder (3-5-0-0). This is the first meeting of the season between these two clubs. Last year Ontario won the season series with a 10-6-0-0 record, but Stockton ultimately finished strong in the final five games of the regular season series with a 2-2-0-1 record against the Reign, and eventually sweeping Ontario in the opening round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs."¨"¨
Matt White led all current Reign skaters against the Thunder last season, scoring five goals and six assists in 11 games. Stockton's leading active scorer from 2013-14 season, had four goals and seven assists in 14 games.
HISTORY WILL BE MADE:"¨ Ontario Reign head coach Jason Christie is poised to make history this evening, as he coaches his 800th game behind an ECHL bench, making him only the fourth coach in league history to reach the milestone. Only John Marks (1,008), Jeff Pyle (932) and John Brophy (882) have coached more games in the ECHL; Christie's 444 wins also rank fourth all-time as well.
MAY-DAY:"¨ After being held without a point through his first seven games, Jeff May finally got on the scoresheet on Sunday, with a power-play goal midway through the first period. The former Detroit Red Wings draft pick was among the top defensemen in the Western Conference last season for the Las Vegas Wranglers; he is expected to contribute heavily on the back end for Ontario this season.
THE "JUICE" IS LOOSE:"¨ May's former Las Vegas Wranglers blueline partner, Nolan Julseth-White, set a season-high for the Reign in penalty minutes on Sunday, with 17, all coming at the 18:01 mark of the third period following an altercation with Bakersfield's Chase Schaber.
