
Kalamazoo's Valk Named CCM ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Kalamazoo Wings' center Curtis Valk has been named the CCM ECHL Player of the Month for October.
Valk scored four goals, assisted on six others and was a +4 in six games during October, helping the K-Wings to a 4-1-1 record during the month.
The 21-year-old had at least one point in each of the six games in October, including two multi-point games. He had two assists in a 6-2 win at Elmira on Oct. 18 and four points (2g-2a) in an 8-2 victory at Cincinnati on Oct. 25.
A native of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Valk leads ECHL rookies, and is second overall in the league, with 11 points, while his four goals are tied for second among first-year players.
Under contract to Utica of the American Hockey League, Valk recorded 255 points (125g-130a) in 270 career Western Hockey League games with Medicine Hat. Last season, he was tied for fourth in the league with 47 goals and was 11th with 92 points.
