
Idaho's Roy Named Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Olivier Roy of the Idaho Steelheads is the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for October.
The 23-year-old went 4-0-0 with one shutout, a 0.89 goals-against average and a save percentage of .964 in five appearances during the month as Idaho went 5-1-0 in the opening month of the ECHL season.
Roy made 30 saves in a season-opening 3-1 win at Utah on Oct. 17, and allowed two goals or less in each of his four starts, highlighted by a 28-save shutout in a 3-0 victory over Stockton on Oct. 29.
A native of Causapscal, Quebec, Roy leads the ECHL with five wins, while ranking fourth with 328 saves and fifth with a 1.28 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage.
Roy has appeared in 75 career ECHL games with Idaho, Alaska and Stockton posting a record of 41-27-5 with five shutouts, a 2.14 goals-against average and a save percentage of .930. In 38 career games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs, Roy is 22-14 with a 2.62 goals-against average and a save percentage of .910.
Selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Roy has also appeared in 44 career American Hockey League games with Oklahoma City and Abbotsford. During his junior career in the QMJHL, he posted 14 career shutouts, just one off the all-time league record.
