Darling Is the MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former ECHL goaltender Scott Darling is The MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for October.

The leading distributor of game- worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL," MeiGray has sold more than 6,900 jerseys since it became "The Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL" in 2002-03.

The 25-year-old made his NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 26, and in three appearances during the month went 2-1-0 with a 1.98 goals-against average and a save percentage of .933. He stopped 32 shots in a 2-1 win against Ottawa in his debut, and earned his second win on Oct. 30, turning aside 28 shots in a 5-4 shootout win against the Senators. Darling also appeared in two American Hockey League games with Rockford in October, posting a record of 2-0-0 with a 1.44 goals-against average and a save percentage of .948.

A native of Lemont, Ill., Darling appeared in 39 career ECHL games with Florida, Wheeling and Cincinnati from 2011-14 posting an overall record of 17-14-5 with a 2.83 goals-against average and a save percentage of .906.

The first SPHL player to reach the NHL, Darling also has appeared in 30 games in the American Hockey League with Hamilton, Milwaukee and Rockford going 16-6-4 with six shutouts, a 1.88 goals-against average and a save percentage of .936.

There have been 547 players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL including six who have made their debut in 2014-15 . The ECHL has had 402 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years. There have been 291 ECHL players who have played their first game in the last 10 seasons for an average of more than 29 per year.
