Following Sounders FC's loss to Honduran side CD Olimpia in the second leg of Concacaf Champions League action on Thursday at CenturyLink Field, Seattle opens the 2020 MLS campaign with a home match against Chicago Fire FC (12:00 p.m. PT / ESPN, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). The Rave Green enter their 12th campaign in Major League Soccer and look to defend their championship after defeating Toronto FC in the 2019 MLS Cup Final at CenturyLink Field.
Sunday afternoon's match begins at noon with national television coverage on ESPN, featuring Adrian Healey, Alejandro Moreno and Sebastian Salazar on the call. Sports Radio 950 KJR AM is airing tomorrow's contest with Matt Johnson on play-by-play and Kasey Keller on color commentary, in addition to Jackson Felts, Pete Fewing and Wade Webber providing pre-match, halftime and post-match coverage. Fans in Western Washington can tune in to El Rey 1360 AM for a Spanish radio broadcast, featuring "Zuper" Mario Rodriguez, Felipe Maqueda and Carlos Tapia.
Additionally, Sounders FC has submitted its official 2020 roster, adhering to league rules ahead of yesterday's 2020 MLS Roster Compliance deadline. Seattle's current roster sits at 24 players, including three goalkeepers, seven defenders, nine midfielders and five forwards. The club currently has three Designated Players, seven International Players and five Homegrown Players.
While teams may continue to add or release players, the club's official roster - players under contract - must remain within the MLS roster guidelines. MLS clubs will have until the close of the Primary Transfer Window on May 5 to continue adding players to its 2020 roster via international transfers.
After tomorrow's match, Sounders FC trains this week at Starfire Sports before hosting Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, March 7. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT at CenturyLink Field, with local broadcast coverage on JOEtv, 950 KJR AM and El Rey 1360 AM.
