Los Angeles FC News Release

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) begins its third campaign in Major League Soccer on Sunday, March 1 against expansion side Inter Miami CF. Tomorrow's contest will kick off at 2:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, 710 AM ESPN and 980 AM.

Earlier this week, the Black & Gold advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2020 Concacaf Champions League after defeating Liga MX side Club León 3-0 on Thursday night at Banc of California Stadium. LAFC came into the match down 2-0 in the series but would complete the comeback with goals from Carlos Vela (2) and Diego Rossi. LAFC will now take on Mexican side Cruz Azul in the next round on March 12 at Banc of California Stadium and on March 18 at Estadio Azteca.

Last season, LAFC captured the 2019 Supporters' Shield and the top seed in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs after setting a new single-season records in points (72) and goal differential (+48), and tying the single-season team goals record (85). The Club produced the best MLS regular season (21-4-9), with three more wins and two fewer losses than the next closest teams.

Since coming into the league, LAFC has gone 6-1-1 in the month of March, including a 4-0-1 record in 2019. The Club is also 2-for-2 in home openers, with victories over Seattle Sounders FC (1-0; 4/29/18) and Sporting KC (2-1; 3/3/19).

Sunday's contest will mark expansion side Inter Miami CF's first-ever game in team history after being awarded with the 25th MLS franchise in June 2018. The team is led by former Monterrey CF coach Diego Alonso, and boasts a roster that includes Designated Players Rodolfo Pizarro and Matias Pellegrini, goalkeeper Luis Robles, and former LAFC midfielder Lee Nguyen.
