Seattle Sounders FC News Release

Seattle Sounders FC forward Raúl Ruidíaz receives congratulations from his teammate
(Seattle Sounders FC)
After eclipsing the club record for most points to start a season through seven games, Sounders FC (5-0-2, 17 points) hosts expansion side Austin FC (2-4-0, 6 points) on Sunday evening at Lumen Field (6:30 p.m. PT / FS1, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). Seattle became the 16th team in MLS history to start a season with at least seven games unbeaten.
Raúl Ruidíaz scored his sixth goal of the season against Atlanta last weekend, trailing only Javier Hernández of the LA Galaxy in the MLS Golden Boot race. With the assist on Ruidíaz's goal, midfielder João Paulo earned his fourth of the season, tied for the league lead. All three goals conceded by Sounders FC in 2021 have come from set pieces (two by direct free kicks, one on a penalty kick). The Rave Green are the only team in the league yet to concede a goal through open play this season.
This marks the first-ever meeting between the two sides, and one of two scheduled matches this season (July 22 at Austin). Sounders FC has a 5-2-3 all-time record against expansion clubs with a 21-10 goal advantage. The trip to Seattle marks the seventh match of Austin FC's eight-game road trip to open its inaugural season, which concludes on June 12 at Sporting Kansas City. Austin FC is 2-4-0 so far in 2021 and currently amidst a three-match losing streak.
Sounders FC now heads into a June international break following Sunday's match, returning to action on Saturday, June 19 at the LA Galaxy (6:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
