San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes (3-4-0; 9 pts.) will face the LA Galaxy (4-2-0; 12 pts.) at Dignity Health Sports Park today, marking the first California Clasico of the season. The match kicks off at 4:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast nationally on UniMás and TUDN, KNBR 1050 and 1370 KZSF.
San Jose has fared well in recent history against the SoCal side. The Quakes have outscored the LA Galaxy 6-1 during their active three-match unbeaten run (2-0-1) that dates back to Sept. 13, 2020. Additionally, San Jose were defeated just once in their last six regular season matches against LA (4-1-1) and earned a 4-0 victory on the road in their last regular season meeting against them (10/14/2020).
Despite falling to the Portland Timbers 3-0 in their last match, the LA Galaxy currently sit in third place in the Western Conference, only three points ahead of the Earthquakes. LA has kicked off their 2021 season to a good start with help from Mexico star Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, who leads the Galaxy and MLS in goals this year (7).
Saturday's rivalry clash will mark the 75th regular season meeting between the Earthquakes and Galaxy, and the 90th match across all competitions since their first game on April 28, 1996.
