June 30, 2019 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release

Tonight's Game: The Aces will be looking for their sixth straight win with right-hander Taylor Widener scheduled to make his 17th start of the season tonight against the Aviators. Widener comes into the game sporting a 6-4 record with an 8.14 ERA. However, he's thrown very well his last four starts going 3-0 with a 3.68 ERA racking up 24 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched. He's coming off his second quality start of the year tossing six scoreless innings against the Salt Lake Bees on June 25th. Las Vegas will counter with righty Paul Blackburn who comes into the game with a 7-1 record and 5.45 ERA. Blackburn has faced the Aces twice this season compiling a 1-0 record and a 4.76 ERA with his win coming on April 29th at Greater Nevada Field.

Win Streak: Last night's victory over Las Vegas was the Aces fifth win in a row setting a new win streak high for 2019. The previous high was four coming on 4/25-28 against the Fresno Grizzlies. The highest win streak in 2018 was seven games from July 26th-August 2nd.

But Can He Get on Base?: Travis Snider extended his hit streak to nine games with a 1-for-5 performance last night. However, what is even more impressive is that he extended his on-base streak to 27 straight games. His streak started on May 25th against Las Vegas. Since then he's gone 35-for-95 (.368) with 23 BB, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 17 R, 8 2B while holding a .492 on-base percentage.

Mathisen's Power Surge: Wyatt Mathisen hit his 19th home run of the season in the seventh inning of yesterday's ballgame. Since he hit his first big fly of 2019 on May 4th against Sacramento, Mathisen leads the Pacific Coast League in home runs (19), RBIs (48), runs (50), HBP (10), slugging percentage (.746), OPS (1.186), and is tied for first in extra-base hits (33), and total bases (129).

Leyba's Career Game: Domingo Leyba was 5-for-6 in yesterday's ballgame with two home runs, three runs scored, and six RBIs. Leyba had never hit two home runs in a game before last night. Six RBIs in a game is a new career high, breaking his previous high of five set on May 21st against El Paso. Leyba also set a new career high with five hits in the game. No Aces player has ever had six hits in a single contest.

Runs are Fun: Saturday's 20 run performance was the 13th time this season the Aces have scored double-digit runs in a game. The Aces scored double-digit runs 16 times all of 2018. It is the sixth time in franchise history the Aces put up at least 20 runs in a game, and the first time they have done it twice in the same season.

Something about the Balls: The most home runs the Aces hit in a single game prior to this season was six, happening twice. Once on 4/28/11 vs. Tacoma and another time on 6/27/18 vs. Salt Lake. Last night, the Aces hit nine home runs. However, the most home runs in a single game of course came on May 20, 2019 when the Aces hit 10 at Greater Nevada Field against the Tacoma Rainiers.
