Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees snapped a five-game losing streak with a 7-5 win over the Tacoma Rainiers on Sunday afternoon.

The Bees jumped in front with two runs in the first inning on a solo homer by Matt Thaiss, his 14th of the season, and an RBI single by Kaleb Cowart. Taylor Ward drew a bases loaded walk in the second to take a 3-0 lead and Cowart added a two single in the fourth to extend the lead to 5-0. After Tacoma plated two in their half of the fourth, Salt Lake got those runs back in the fifth on a two run homer by Ryan Scott, his first Triple-A roundtripper. The Rainiers pulled to within two runs and had the bases loaded with two outs in the ninth, but Zac Ryan induced Tim Lopes into a groundout to end the game and record his first Triple-A save.

Parker Bridwell (4-3) picked up the win, as he went four and one-third innings out of the bullpen and allowed four runs on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Starter Matt Ball went three and two-third innings and gave up just one run on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Cowart led the Bees' twelve hit attack with four hits and three runs batted in. Thaiss added three hits and one RBI and Scott chipped in with two hits, including a homer, and two runs batted in to extend his hitting streak to seven games.
