From the Notes

ABOUT SUNDAY: The Indians saw a 5-0 lead evaporate through the middle innings as Toledo rallied for a 7-6 win on Sunday, forcing the Tribe to settle for a four-game series split and 4-3 road trip. Christin Stewart had the decisive hit when he greeted Damien Magnifico with a three-run double to right-center, giving the Mud Hens a 7-6 lead in the sixth. All three runs were charged to Montana DuRapau (L, 1-1), who gave up five earned on four hits and two walks in 1.2 innings of work. Clay Holmes allowed two runs on five hits over 4.0 frames. The Indians scored twice in the second and added three runs in the fourth on a two-out homer by Wyatt Mathisen, his second of the series and seventh for Indy in 2018. He finished with a career-high tying four RBI in the loss, matching his output from Friday night's 12-7 win over the Hens. Ryan Lavarnway, Jacob Stallings and Eric Wood each had two hits for the Tribe.

WY-HIT MATHISEN: Wyatt Mathisen enters tonight's game with a seven-game hitting streak. He logged a two-hit game Saturday night, his first multi-hit effort since June 25 at Toledo, and finished 1-for-4 on Sunday. During his hitting streak, he's batted .286 (8-for-28) with two homers, two doubles, 10 RBI and four runs scored. He's also walked once and struck out just three times during the streak. His 4-RBI performances on both Friday and Sunday were career-high marks.

ROAD WARRIORS: Kevin Kramer (.500, 9-for-18, 1 HR, 1 2B, 4 RBI, 5 R) and Ryan Lavarnway (.375, 12-for-32, 1 HR, 3 2B, 4 RBI, 5 R) each had very successful road trips this past week. Kramer has been especially dominant away from home, batting .355 (71-for-200) with eight homers, 14 doubles and 28 RBI in 54 road games. By comparison, he's hit just .243 (43-for-177) with four dingers, 12 two-baggers and 22 RBI in 49 home affairs.

HAPPY TO BE HOME: Jason Martin went just 3-for-29 (.103) with four RBI in seven games on the road trip. All three of his hits went for extra bases (two HR, one 2B). Martin's triple-slash line at home in 13 games (.333/.362/.489) is much better than his road numbers in 20 contests (.200/.277/.373). Jacob Stallings also had a tough go on the road trip, hitting .154 (4-for-26) with one double, one RBI and seven strikeouts in six games. He has hit .323 (30-for-93) at home compared to a .239 clip (26-for-109) on the road.

ROSTER MOVES: The Indians placed C Jackson Williams on the 7-day DL yesterday (retro to 8/3) with a left ankle sprain. Today, LHP Steven Brault, 26, joins Indy after being optioned on 8/3. Brault was the IL's Most Valuable Pitcher in 2017 after going 10-5 with a 1.94 ERA. He was an IL mid- and postseason All-Star and Indy's Pitcher of the Year, as well. The southpaw had spent his entire 2018 campaign with Pittsburgh, where he went 5-2 with a 4.93 ERA in 31 games (five starts) before being optioned on 8/4.

IL PITCHER OF THE WEEK: J.T. Brubaker was named IL Pitcher of the Week yesterday after going 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA (1 ER/15.0 IP), 0.67 WHIP and 14 strikeouts against no walks in consecutive starts at Columbus (7/30) and Toledo (8/4) last week. He is the third Tribe pitcher to win the weekly award handed out by the IL this season, joining RHP Nick Kingham (4/16 & 6/18) and LHP Brandon Waddell (7/16). INF Kevin Newman won the IL Player of the Week Award on 5/14.

SO NICE TO SEE YOU: The Indians and IronPigs meet for the first of seven head-to-head matchups between 8/7-19. Lehigh Valley owns a comfortable 11-game lead over second-place Scranton/W-B in the IL North and has a magic number of 16 entering tonight's slate of games. The IronPigs' active roster has four of Philadelphia's Top 30 prospects according to MLBPipeline.com, all four being part of a dominant rotation. LHP Cole Irvin (#10), RHP Drew Anderson (#21) and RHP Tom Eshelman (#28) are the three starters Indy will face in this series. LHP Ranger Suarez (#8) is another rotation mate, and RHP Enyel De Los Santos (#9) was just recalled by Philadelphia today.
