(SYRACUSE, NY) -- RHP Spencer Adams tossed a solid outing, but the Charlotte Knights dropped the opening game of their three-game series against the Syracuse Chiefs by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday from NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse, NY. Tuesday's game was the first of a six-game road trip for the Knights, who return home to BB&T Ballpark on Monday, August 13th.

Adams (3-4, 3.24) pitched into the seventh inning on Tuesday and left the game with each team scoreless. Adams, who allowed the first two batters to reach on hits in the seventh inning, was replaced by LHP Caleb Frare with two runners on base and one out in the inning. Frare allowed a costly two-run single to Andrew Stevenson, which proved to be the difference in the game. The two runs, which were charged to Adams, were the only runs on the evening.

The Knights managed just two hits in the game and didn't get their first hit until the seventh inning when left fielder Ryan Cordell broke up a perfect game with a single. Syracuse RHP Kyle McGowin (1-1, 0.86) gave up just two hits over eight shutout innings for the win. He walked one batter and struck-out nine. Reliever Koda Glover earned the save in the ninth inning.
