Silvertippin'
New month, new opponent! For the first time since New Year's Eve, the Hawks and 'Tips are set to square off in a U.S. Division showdown and potential playoff preview. Everett remains part of the mushy middle in the Western Conference, jockeying for position with Tri-City and Prince George in the 4-6 seeds. Portland, currently sitting in third, could potentially face any of the three in the postseason, and will get a good look at Everett this weekend with games against the Silvertips tonight and on Sunday.
Luca Cagnoni has been unstoppable in the season series with a whopping 11 assists in six games, while Aidan Litke and Robbie Fromm-Delorme have been lighting the lamp in bunches with five goals apiece against Everett. On the flipside, Ryan Hofer still leads Everett in scoring against the Hawks, but his January trade to Kamloops alongside star defenseman Olen Zellweger puts the pressure on Austin Roest (four points), Jackson Berezowski (three points) and Ben Hemmerling to carry the offensive load this weekend.
Home Stretch Refresh
Looking past tonight's tilt, there's some excitement on the horizon! After a grueling February spent mostly on the road, the Hawks are into the final month of the regular season with six home games ahead, including two this weekend to wrap up a three-in-three. The calendar couldn't be flipping at a better time - the Hawks are looking to snap a seven-game skid after a tough road stretch to wrap up last month and some home cooking could be just the thing.
"We're all looking forward to playing at home. It'll be nice to have a home crowd again. This road trip wasn't the best, but I thought we ended off on a strong note. Everyone played a good game. We'll take the positives out of this game and it'll be fun to be back at the VMC," said forward Nick Johnson.
