Pats Play First of Three Games in Three Nights Inside the Brandt Centre

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats play the first of three games in three days on home ice tonight at 7:00 p.m. inside the Brandt Centre against the Winnipeg ICE.

The Pats have won their last four contests after a home-and-home sweep over the Brandon Wheat Kings this past weekend, winning 4-3 on the road and 6-3 at home. On Saturday, the Pats got a 35 save performance from Kelton Pyne who grabbed his first win of the season in their 6-3 win. Alexander Suzdalev recorded his first career hat-trick as well as his second four point game of the season (3G-1A) while Tanner Howe (1G-1A), Stanislav Svozil (1G-2A) and Connor Bedard (1G-2A) chipped in with multi-point games.

The Pats earned their 13th comeback win of the season after scoring three unanswered goals in the second stanza after the club trailed 3-1 after one. The final shots were 38-29 for the Wheat Kings. The Pats finished 2-2 on their power play and 4-5 on their penalty kill.

Regina is currently sitting in sixth in the Eastern Conference standings with 61 points and 29 victories this season. They are two points ahead of the seventh place Medicine Hat Tigers who have 59 points.

Meanwhile, the Winnipeg ICE had their 11 game winning-streak come to a close on Wednesday following 6-4 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers at Co-Op Place. The ICE took a 2-0 lead less than six minutes into the game before the Tigers scored three unanswered goals, and led 4-3 after two periods of action. The ICE were outscored 6-2 in the final 55:35 of the game.

Matthew Savoie (1G-2A), Connor McClennon (1G-1A), Zack Ostapchuk and Easton Armstrong scored for the ICE while Ben Zloty had three assists and Mason Beaupit made 22 saves in the loss. The final shots were 44-28 for the ICE. Winnipeg went 2-6 on the power play and 2-3 on the penalty kill.

The Pats are 11-5-1 over their last 17 games since Jan. 8, defeating the Calgary Hitmen twice (6-2 & 6-5), Saskatoon (7-4), Portland (4-3), Swift Current (5-2), Lethbridge twice (3-2 & 4-2), Moose Jaw (8-4), Medicine Hat (6-3) and Brandon twice (4-3 & 6-3) which comes following a three game skid from Jan. 1 - Jan. 6...during that time, they have outscored their opponents 80-to-68 (+12 goal diff).

The Pats have won four straight games, tying their longest winning-streak of the season which occurred from Dec. 2 - Dec. 11...in fact, it's their longest winning-streak of two or more games since Jan. 9 - Jan. 14....during this time, they have outscored opponents 20-to-11.

Regina Pats Head Coach and GM John Paddock picked up his 200th win as coach of the Pats on Feb. 11...sitting on 204 wins, he passed Frank Mario (202) for third on the all-time wins list...he is two wins away from tying Murray Armstrong (206) for second.

34: Goals for Alexander Suzdalev leads all WHL rookies...he has points in 14 of his last 17 games (13G-15A-28PTS) as well as points in three straight (4G-3A) and goals in back-to-back games (4G)...his 75 points are tied for seventh in the WHL, while his 34 goals are tied for ninth.
