How do the Winterhawks get back to their winning ways?
Stick to their game.
Most clubs aren't happy after a loss, but both the coaching staff and locker room felt like they played well enough to win the game last night. Everett is a great team with a great goaltender. Taking away a positive, the Hawks were the first team to score on them in four games this season. Straight from the horses mouth, "if we play that same way tomorrow, I'll feel good about it," proclaimed VP/GM/HC Mike Johnston after the contest.
What can we expect from Seattle?
At minimum, confidence.
The T-Birds put up a 5-0 thrashing of the Spokane Chiefs last night en route to their second victory in three games. Thomas Milic, who was strong in his start against Portland last weekend, posted a 35-save shutout in the affair. While it remains to be seen if he'll start again for Seattle tonight, the crew does face a slight disadvantage in having to travel back the four-plus hours from eastern Washington.
Takeaways from the last meetings between the two sides?
Portland better come ready to play.
If it hadn't been for Dante Giannuzzi's 16-save first period last Saturday that kept the game scoreless, the Winterhawks would've been down and maybe out early. Their resiliency and adjustments paved the way for the victory along the final 40 minutes, but we're sure the coaching staff and locker room won't want to have to rely on their goaltending to get them to that point again.
Fans can catch the action online tonight on the new WHL Live on CHL TV platform all in HD, and listen live on the Winterhawks Radio Network presented by Toyota.
