Spokane Chiefs News Release

Kennewick, Wash. -- The Spokane Chiefs couldn't muster any offense for the second-straight night, losing to the rival Tri-City Americans 3-0 on Saturday in Kennewick. Talyn Boyko earned the shutout with 26 saves.

After a scoreless first, the Americans got on the board 6:47 into the second when veteran forward Connor Bouchard snuck around the Chiefs' defense for a short breakaway. The unassisted goal was Bouchard's second of the season.

Tri-City added on at 4:12 of the third when Samuel Huo capped a nice feed from Colorado Avalanche prospect Sasha Mutala to beat the Chiefs' Mason Beaupit, who couldn't quite deny the two-on-one chance. The Americans added an empty net goal late to complete the scoring.

Spokane has now been shut out twice in a row. The franchise record is three consecutive games, set most recently during the 2014-15 season.

Beaupit finished the game with 22 saves on 24 shots faced. The Chiefs went 0-for-6 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.

The Chiefs return to action on Saturday, April 3 when they return to Kennewick for a rematch with the Americans. That game will also be televised on SWX, plus broadcast on WHL Live (watch.chl.ca) and on the radio via 103.5 FM The Game.
