HEAD-TO-HEAD - This is the 14th meeting against the Americans this season. Wichita is 16-22-4 all-time against Allen and 8-14-1 on the road.
TODAY - Wichita closes out a seven-game road swing tonight against the Allen Americans. The two teams met last night with the Thunder winning a see-saw affair in overtime by the final of 5-4. The win pulls the Thunder even with the Tulsa Oilers in fourth place with 66 points and one point back of Rapid City for third place. Allen is attempting to lock up a playoff spot and has a 17 point lead in first place. After tonight, Wichita will host the Americans on Friday night to finish a three-game mini series. Chad Costello leads the Americans with 20 points (8g, 12a) against the Thunder in 13 games. Gary Steffes leads Allen with 10 goals against Wichita. Danick Gauthier has 16 points (8g, 8a) against Allen while Ian Lowe has 14.
60+ - Wichita and Allen played in their sixth game against each other that went past regulaton. The Thunder improved to 3-1 in games decided in the overtime session and are 2-0 in shootouts against the Americans. Overall, Wichita is 6-2 in games decided in overtime this season.
THREE BALL - Danick Gauthier had two goals and an assist last night, giving him three points on the night and assisted on the game-winning goal in overtime. It was his 17th multi-point game of the season and third time he has recorded two or more goals in a game this year. He finished with seven shots on net and a +3 on the night.
POWER AND LIGHT - Wichita went 2-for-5 last night on the power play. The Thunder have found the back of the net on the man advantage in seven of the last 10 games and recorded two or more in five of those meetings. Wichita has gone 13-for-41, operating at 31.7%. The Thunder has scored two or more against Allen four times this season and has done so in back-to-back games, going 3-for-11 on March 1st and 2-for-5 last night.
RIVALRY - Wichita and Allen are in the middle of a three-game mini series against each other. The Thunder play their final road game of the season-series tonight and then host the Americans the next three including this Friday. Wichita is 6-6-0-1 against Allen and 3-3-0-0 on the road at the AEC.
