TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers on Wednesday announced the signing of amateur defenseman Steven Hoshaw who will make his professional debut tonight when the Oilers face off against the Quad City Mallards at 7:05 p.m. at the iWireless Center in Moline, Illinois.

Hoshaw (HOE-shaw), 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, spent the last four seasons at American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts. In his senior season of 2014-15, the 24-year old Hoshaw was named the captain of the Yellow Jackets squad and posted one goal and four assists in 35 games.

"Steven is a big, physical player who is very responsible in his own zone," remarked Oilers Head Coach Bruce Ramsay. "We have suffered a couple injuries on our blue line so Steven can add some depth for us at that position during this crucial time of year. I'm looking forward to seeing him in his first pro game tonight."

Before his time at American International, the same school attended by current Tulsa forwards Adam Pleskach and Tommy Mele, Hoshaw played three seasons of junior hockey in the USHL (Waterloo Black Hawks and Lincoln Stars) and two seasons in the NAHL with the Wichita Falls Wildcats. In his final season of junior eligibility in 2010-11, the Vista, California native posted career highs in assists (11), points (12) and penalty minutes (99).

The Oilers, tied for fourth place in the Central Division playoff race, will try to extend their four-game win streak tonight against the Mallards. Tulsa is 3-2-1 against Quad City this season and 2-0-1 at the iWireless Center.

Four home games remain in the 2014-15 regular season and tickets can be purchase by calling the Oilers' office at 918-632-7825 or by logging on to www.tulsaoilers.com.
