The set-up
The Belleville Senators will visit Utica for the final time this season as they play the Comets in a North Division battle.
The Sens (21-33-1-3) mathematically remain alive in the playoff race but currently sit 23 points behind the Rochester Americans for a playoff spot with 18 games left.
Utica (29-17-6-4) are third in the North Division but trail Toronto by 12 points for the division lead.
Both teams enter tonight's contest on losing streaks as the Sens have lost five straight while Utica has dropped its last three decisions.
Roster notes
Newly acquired Nick Moutrey made his Sens debut in Tuesday's loss to the Binghamton Devils while goaltender Chris Driedger was reassigned to the ECHL's Brampton Beast.
Either Danny Taylor or Marcus Hogberg will get the nod in goal tonight but Sens head coach Kurt Kleinendorst will have to strategize his goaltending situation the next few days as tonight is the first game of a three-in-three.
Max McCormick, Jim O'Brien and Erik Burgdoerfer are with Ottawa while Kyle Flanagan, Francis Perron and Christian Jaros have yet to return for the Senators.
Previous history
Belleville has yet to record a win against the Comets this season going 0-3. The Senators are 0-2 in Utica and have given up 11 goals in the process. Utica won the last meeting between the two teams on Family Day at the Yardmen despite a Ben Sexton hat-trick.
Who to watch
Ben Sexton has had a productive two games against Utica this season amassing five points including the previously mentioned hat-trick in their last meeting. Sexton has 14 points (seven goals) in 19 games this season.
Utica rookie Zack MacEwen has notched five points against Belleville this season and has put up 30 points (nine goals) in 51 games this year.
