LAVAL - In their first of three games in three days, the Laval Rocket fell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-2 at Place Bell Friday night.

The Laval newcomers wasted no time and made themselves seen on the scoreboard in the first period. Rinat Valiev's slap shot rebounded off the boards during a Rocket power play and Kerby Rychel put the puck behind Kristers Gudlevskis to score the game's opening goal. Bridgeport had the opportunity to tie the game when Laval took two back-to-back penalties late in the period, but Michael McNiven kept the Sound Tigers off the board.

The visitors got a lucky break early in the second to make it a 1-1 game as the puck deflected off of Éric Gélinas' stick and in his own net when he attempted to break up a Sound Tiger two-on-one. Bridgeport took their first lead of the evening on the power play later in the period, but Adam Cracknell took Chris Terry's rebound to even things up with 21 seconds left in the period.

Kane Lafranchise scored Bridgeport's third of the evening at the 12:29 mark of the third period to put the Sound Tigers ahead by one, and an empty-net goal in the final minute secured their victory.

"The penalties didn't help us today, but what also hurt us today is [all of] the injuries," explained Jordan Boucher after the game. "We have two big games on the road now and our record on the road is better than our record at home, so we're able to go get the two victories."
