ICE CHIPS
The Winnipeg ICE put their three game winning streak on the line tonight as they host the Brandon Wheat Kings in the latest installment of the Battle of Manitoba presented by Taylor McCaffery Lawyers, 7:00 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
The ICE are coming off a 6-1 victory Sunday over the Regina Pats. Aiden Oiring, Evan Friesen and Owen Pederson paced Winnipeg to a 3-0 lead after the opening period. Vladislav Shilo, Skyler Bruce and Graham Sward added second period goals while Daniel Hauser made 19 saves.
From October 12th to November 19th, the ICE set a new franchise record with a 15 game winning streak eclipsing the previous mark of 14 games held by the 2009-10 Kootenay ICE.
From October 15th to 22nd, Winnipeg became the first Eastern Conference based team to go a perfect 5-0 on the road versus the B.C. Division since the 2011-12 Kootenay ICE.
Carson Lambos was named the 24th Captain in ICE franchise history on October 6th.
The 19 year old returned from Minnesota Wild Training Camp where he appeared in three NHL preseason games. Connor McClennon, Owen Pederson and Ben Zloty were named alternate captains for 2022-23.

The Winnipeg ICE have teamed up with Bell Media (103.1 FM Virgin Radio, CFRW 1290 AM, 99.9 Bounce FM and CTV) to share the excitement this WHL season.

The ICE are 4-0 versus the Wheat Kings this season in the Battle of Manitoba presented by Taylor McCaffery Lawyers. The ICE and Wheat Kings play 10 times during the regular season (Sept 24 @ Bran 4-3 OTW / Oct 28 @ Bran 4-1 W / Oct 29 @ Wpg 4-3 W / Nov 12 @ Wpg 8-3 W / last night @ Bran postponed / tonight @ Wpg / Feb 3 @ Bran / Mar 12 @ Wpg / Mar 24 @ Bran / Mar 25 @ Wpg).
Zach Benson leads the ICE with eight points (four goals and four assists) in four games against the Wheat Kings this season. Carson Lambos has a team high six assists.
Winnipeg had an 8-1-1 record versus Brandon during the 2021-22 regular season led by forward Matthew Savoie who registered 16 points (2 goals and 14 assists) in 10 games. Owen Pederson and Mikey Milne led the ICE with six goals each.
