TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The second of two meetings back to back and the Stingrays only visit to Richmond this season. Stingrays roster includes ex-‘Gade Rod Taylor. The Stingrays beat Richmond 3-2 in their only meeting last season at Richmond. The ‘Gades are now in a fifth place tie in the Northeast Division with Reading, two points behind Trenton. South Carolina is third in the Southeast with 45 points. The Stingrays are two points back of Pee Dee and three behind first place Florida.

LAST ACTION: The ‘Gades lost 6-4 at South Carolina last night. Richmond vaulted out to a 6-4 lead on a shorthanded goal by Dan Vandermeer and a score by Russ Barlett. But the ‘Gades allowed a power play goal by Dave Seitz in the final minute of the first period and the Stingrays ripped off six straight goals. The Rays scored four power play goals and a fifth on a delayed penalty. Adam Calder had two goals and three assists. Curtis Huppe and Dave Seitz enjoyed four point nights. Brad Church and Jonathan St. Louis scored third period goals. The Stingrays out-shot the ‘Gades 39-34.

‘GADES NOTES: Richmond is winless in their last five games and has lost three in a row. The ‘Gades have allowed 16 goals in their last three games. The ‘Gades are in a stretch of five games in six nights and eight in 10. Jon Zion returned from Cincinnati of the AHL last night. Jayme Filipowicz remains on a call up to St. John of the AHL. Five Renegades have seen action in the AHL this season. Ryan Van Buskirk has missed the last 10 games with a concussion. Richard Pitirri has missed three games with a shoulder injury. The ‘Gades have lost four in a row at home after winning 12 of their first 14. Richmond is 2-4 vs. the Southeast. Lars Pettersen has points in seven straight games. Peter Hogan has six goals in his last 11 games. His career high for a season is seven (with Florida in ‘00-'01). The ‘Gades allowed a season high four power play goals last night and they've given up seven in the last two games. Richmond has dropped from second to eighth in penalty killing in two games. Richmond still leads the league in fewest shots allowed per game (29.3). Richmond has lost three straight overtimes after winning their first seven. The ‘Gades have fired 30 or more shots in four straight games. The ‘Gades are tied for the league lead with 10 shorthanded goals.

STINGRAYS NOTES: South Carolina hit the half-way mark of their season following last night's game. This is the second of three straight games vs. Northeast Division opponents. The Rays are 3-3-1 vs. the Northeast. Former ‘Gade Rod Taylor is four points short of the ECHL career points record. Dave Seitz scored his 200th career goal as a Stingray last night. The Rays are tied for fourth in the ECHL in goals per game (3.7). South Carolina has allowed over 35 shots per game (tied for 24th in the league).
