January 8, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greensboro Generals News Release

Greensboro, NC — The Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) are geared up for year two of the Generals Women's Hockey Clinic. The clinic will be at the Greensboro Coliseum on Tuesday, January 14 from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. and will be conducted by Generals coaches, players, staff, and ECHL officials. Registration for the clinic is only $20.00 for non-season ticket holders and $15.00 for season ticket holders. The price of joining the Greensboro Generals Women's Hockey Clinic includes a free dinner prior to the start of the event courtesy of Outback Steakhouse, which will be held in the Generals V.I.P Room in their main offices.

The Women's Hockey Clinic will incorporate six stations on the finer points of the game, with Generals players serving as tour guides for the event. The clinic will start with a tour of the Generals locker room with Generals equipment manager Patrick Houlihan and athletic trainer D. J. Amadio. From there, it's off to a session with the Generals' head coach Rick Adduono giving an in-depth discussion on building a team and strategy. Station three will give the ladies a chance to talk with the people who usually receive the loudest boos—the officials. ECHL referee Jason Rollins will go through all the rules and regulations of the game, answering the toughest of questions along the way. The next stop will take the women to the press box, where Generals play-by-play announcer Arley Johnson will go through his routine and preparation for broadcasting a game. Finally, the clinic concludes with an on-ice demonstration from the Greensboro based women's hockey team the Carolina Angels, followed by a chance to learn the best technique for shooting a puck from the Generals players. The shooting station will include a chance for the women to show their new skills on the ice.

The Generals have three home games in three nights this week. They host the Charlotte Checkers tomorrow night at 7:00. The Generals will claim the Carolina Cup if they defeat Charlotte for winning the season series between the two clubs. On Friday at 7:30, Greensboro entertains the Richmond Renegades, and on Saturday at 7:30 the Peoria Rivermen make their one and only visit to the Coliseum. Tickets are only seven dollars for goal-view seats for Saturday's game. Ticket prices range from $10.00 - $17.00, with tickets as low as $8.00 for students and seniors. Generals Flex Plans for six, twelve, and 18 games are also available for as little as $50.00.
