Johnstown, PA- Former Johnstown Chiefs forward John Tripp will be making his NHL debut tonight with the New York Rangers, when they face the Carolina Hurricanes at Madison Square Garden. Tripp becomes the 17th former Chief to advance to the NHL.

Tripp, 25, was with the Chiefs from 1998-2000. In 45 games with the Chiefs he had 15 goals and 26 points. The Kingston, Ontario native is the fifth member (Jody Shelley, Columbus; Derrick Walser, Columbus; Brett McLean, Chicago; Tyrone Garner, Calgary*) from the Chiefs 1999-00 Northern Conference semi-final team to play in the NHL. Garner played three games with Calgary before being assigned to the Chiefs.

Prior to yesterday's recall by the Rangers, Tripp was second in the AHL with 21 goals while skating in 38 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack. He was second in the team in scoring with 32 points.

Since leaving Johnstown, Tripp has skated with Saint John (AHL), Hershey (AHL), Milwaukee (AHL), Houston (AHL), and Pensacola (ECHL).

The Chiefs are off until Friday night when they travel to Wheeling at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night the Chiefs return to the War Memorial when they take on the Lexington Men O'War at 7:30 p.m.
