
G Stirling Signs PTO With Father's Sound Tigers

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's 2001-02 Regular Season Champion and Eastern Conference Playoff Champion Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the signing of Goaltender Scott Stirling to a professional tryout contract. Stirling is the son of Sound Tigers Head Coach Steve Stirling.
The younger Stirling, 25, joins the Sound Tigers from the East Coast Hockey League's Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies for whom he has posted a 15-3-4 record, 2.84 goals against average, .908 save percentage and two shutouts in 23 games this season. Earlier this week, he represented Atlantic City at the ECHL All-Star Game in Estero, Florida and was named the contest's Most Valuable Player leading the Northern Conference to an 8-2 win over the Southern Conference. Stirling has also appeared in one game for the AHL's Worcester IceCats this season posting a 4.00 goals against average and .840 save percentage in a winning effort.
The Sound Tigers will open a four-game homestand against the Houston Aeros tonight at 7:35 p.m.
