Canucks reassign Helmer to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks announced that they have reassigned defenceman Bryan Helmer to the Manitoba Moose.

This season, Helmer has played two games with Vancouver with a +1 rating and two shots. He saw action against the Minnesota Wild on Jan. 16 and against the Detroit Red Wings on Jan. 19.

With the Moose this season, Helmer has registered 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) with 25 penalty minutes in 27 AHL games. He is the third leading scorer among Moose defencemen.

Last season, Helmer split duties with Manitoba and Vancouver. He played in 34 contests with the Moose and accumulated 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) and a +18 rating before being recalled for the rest of the season on Dec. 28/01. With the Canucks, the Sault Ste. Marie, ON native recorded 10 points (5g, 5a) and 53 penalty minutes in 40 NHL games.

Helmer was originally assigned to Manitoba at the start of the 2002-03 season on October 9/02 and then reassigned on January 18/03.
