
Fuel Explode for a 3-2 Overtime Win over Toledo

INDIANAPOLIS - In the final game before the holiday break, the Indy Fuel (14-13-0-0) hosted the Toledo Walleye (15-19-3-0) for the third time this season. After two slow periods, the floodgates opened in the final period when both teams scored two goals each, forcing an overtime period that lasted six minutes. Craig Wyzsomirski fired a wrist shot from the slot, to win the game for the Fuel in overtime.
Throughout the opening period, both teams trading chances, Toledo earning an early power play chance off of a Michael Doherty high-sticking penalty. Putting three shots on Charles Williams (27 SVS), the Walleye were unable to take the early lead. It took until 14 minutes in the first period when Kyle Bonis fired a wrist shot that squeaked through the fivehole of Williams, sending the Walleye into the locker room up 1-0.
Indy began the second period on the power play but Toledo Goaltender Billy Christopoulos (37 SVS) fought off the Indy shots. Earning a long 5-on-3 power play, the Fuel put one shot on Christopoulos and were denied, finishing the period 0-for-3 on the power play. Immediately following the Indy power play, Sam Kurker earned two minutes for tripping, giving Toledo their second power play of the night. Seeing multiple shots on Williams, the Fuel killed off their second penalty of the night.
Both teams traded chances throughout the final period. Indy put several shots on Christopoulos, nearly tying the game with nine minutes left. After two, simultaneous penalties to Bobby MacIntyre and Steve Oleksy, Dylan McLaughlin tied the game with a shot from the bottom right faceoff circle. Immedatley following the tying goal, McLaughlin scored his second of the game, burying a one timer from Sam Kurker. Toledo responded with a goal of their own when Shane Berschbach fired a slapshot over the shoulder of Charles Williams, forcing overtime.
Trading chances throughout overtime, Charles Williams backstopped the Fuel, making five saves on Toledo. It took until late in the overtime period when Craig Wyszomirski fired a wrist shot past Christopoulos, giving Indy the 3-2 win over Toledo.
