Freedom to Go Nuts About No-Peanuts
August 1, 2012 - Frontier League (FL)
Florence Y'alls News Release
FLORENCE, KY - On Tuesday, August 7, the Florence Freedom and Family Allergy & Asthma will join forces to eliminate peanuts from the face of the concourse for "Peanut Free Night" at the ballpark.
On the field, the Freedom will be trying to take down the Windy City Thunderbolts, off the field, the Freedom organization will be supporting a safe and secure night for families that battle peanut related allergies.
Family Allergy & Asthma will be on hand to help with the event.
"Food allergies, especially peanut allergies, are increasing in prevalence," Dr. Hans Otto at Family Allergy & Asthma in Florence said. "However, correct diagnosis is critical. Twenty-five percent of the population avoids a food because they believe they are allergic, whereas only about 5-8% are allergic. It is important to correctly identify allergies to reduce risk of malnutrition, educate on avoidance and emergency treatment if needed."
To make the night even more attractive for families to enjoy a fun, safe night at the ballpark, the Freedom are offering a $2 discount online when fans use promo code "peanut". Fans can click the "Team" tab on FlorenceFreedom.com, then click schedule to find the August 7 date. A link will connect the user with TicketReturn.com where they will be able to enter the code.
To add the cherry on top, the Freedom will donate $3 of every ticket sold online that uses the promo code "peanut" to a charity of Family Allergy & Asthma's choice to help spread awareness of peanut allergies and proper diagnosing of such allergies.
The Freedom players will also wear special "Peanut Free" jerseys fan will be able to purchase via silent auction during the game. The proceeds of the jersey sales will also go to the charity of choice.
The Florence Freedom are members of the Independent Frontier League and play all home games at the Home of the Florence Freedom located at 7950 Freedom Way in Florence, Kentucky. For game time and promotion information for the entire 2012 season, click FlorenceFreedom.com.
