AVON, Ohio - Lake Erie continued its remarkable run of walkoff wins at the expense of the Rockford RiverHawks on Wednesday.

Dan Bowman hit a two-run, two-out single in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Crushers beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 5-4, at All Pro Freight Stadium.

Lake Erie, which beat Rockford, 2-1, on a 12th-inning walkoff hit in Tuesday's series opener, has five walkoff victories in its last eight games.

On Wednesday, the Crushers rallied for four runs in the ninth off Rockford closer Garrett Granitz. Kyle Shaffer led off the ninth with a single and, with one out, Robby Kuzdale singled. With two outs in the ninth, Granitz (1-2) had two strikes on three out of four batters, but couldn't retire any of them. Jason Taylor singled in a run on a 1-2 pitch. Russ Moldenhauer walked on a 3-2 pitch to load the bases and was lifted for pinch-runner Aaron Klinec. Andrew Davis walked on four pitches to force in a run and make the score 4-3. Granitz fell behind Bowman, 2-0, then on the 2-2 pitch, Bowman singled to right to drive in Taylor and Klinec.

Rockford had led since the third inning and took a 4-1 lead to the bottom of the ninth.

Lake Erie reliever Travis Risser (4-3), who gave up an insurance run on a Michael Hur single in the top of the ninth, picked up the win.

Rockford is 1-10 all-time at Lake Erie.

The series finale is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CDT Thursday.

The RiverHawks' next home game is at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, when they host Florence. Kids eat free on Tuesday nights with paid admission.
