(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters rallied back on Wednesday night for a 6-3 victory over the Joliet Slammers.

The victory marks a season-high fourth straight win for the Evansville Otters who now have the possibility of a sweep on Thursday night.

Evansville leapt ahead to a 1-0 lead when outfielder Luis Uribe hit a line-drive home run over the left field fence in the third inning.

Joliet answered back in the next inning though with a solo home run from Eric McGee to even up the score.

Tied at one, the Slammers took their only lead in the fifth inning on a two-run double from Erik Lis, the former UE Purple Ace baseball player.

The Otters trailed 3-1 until the bottom of the seventh inning. Evansville took advantage of a fielding error to bat around in the inning. Outfielder Runey Davis hit a gapper to left field for a two-run double and infielder Taylor Black followed with a two-run single as well.

The Evansville bullpen then threw two scoreless innings to earn the 6-3 win.

The Otters are now 31-37 this season as the Slammers fall to 27-41.

Starter Matt Zielinski (6-5) is the winning pitcher for Evansville. Zielinski allowed just three runs in 7.0 innings, another quality start. Reliever Mike Barsotti (1-1) receives the loss after yielding three runs in 0.2 innings. Closer Eric Massingham (18th save) pitched the final scoreless inning, totaling his 40th save as a member of the Evansville Otters.

The Otters will seek a sweep on Thursday night with right-hander Bryce Morrow (5-6, 4.20 ERA) on the mound. He will be facing off against fellow righty Jim Schult (5-4, 4.30 ERA).

First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. CDT at Historic Bosse Field. It is Health Resources, Inc. Night and Thirsty Thursday with $1 beer.
