(Florence, KY) - Casey Henn (7-5) tossed seven strong innings; Jacob Tanis went yard, and the Florence Freedom (33-44) locked down the Joliet Slammers (30-49) by a final score of 4-1 Friday night at UC Health Stadium.

Joliet took an early lead when Christopher Epps drew a walk to start the first. One out later Russell Moldenhauer singled him to third and Grant DeBruin singled Epps home to put the Slammers up 1-0.

The lead didn't last long for the Slammers. In the bottom of the first Sam Eberle drew a walk with two away against Joliet starter Andrew Strenge (0-1). That's when Tanis stepped to the plate and launched his fourth home run of the season to put the Freedom up 2-1.

Henn did not allow a hit after the first inning as he went seven innings, giving up only the two hits and one run. He walked five batters and struck out three to pick up his team-leading seventh win of the year.

Florence picked up two insurance runs in the eighth. Sam Eberle singled to start the inning. One out later Adam Taylor singled him to third. Doug Joyce was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Zak Blair came through with a two-RBI single to extend the lead to 4-1. Blair finished with three hits on the night for Florence.

"Pistol" Pete Levitt pitched the final two innings to pick up his second save of the season. Freedom pitching held Joliet to just three hits in the game.

Florence will look to win again Saturday as Peter Gehle (3-5, 4.32 ERA) takes the hill. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. at UC Health Stadium.
