Freedom Drop Season Finale to Rascals

(Florence, KY) - The River City Rascals (61-35) scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back as they knocked off the Florence Freedom (41-55) by a final score of 9-2 Thursday night to clinch the Frontier League West Division title.
It was the final game of the 2014 regular season for the Freedom.
Michael O'Neal (2-7) got the start and gave up three runs in the first. With one out Johnny Morales drew a walk; then with two away O'Neal walked Blaise Fernandez. Brian McConkey followed with a double over the head of center fielder Buddy Sosnoskie to drive in two runs. Hector Crespo singled home McConkey and River City grabbed a 3-0 lead.
They broke the game open in the fourth with five runs. Crespo got the innings started with a double. A Jon Myers single moved Crespo to third. One out later a RBI fielder's choice scored the first run of the inning. Eric Williams drew a walk and Morales walked to score the second run of the frame.
Saxon Butler singled home two more runs and a wild throw allowed a third run to score across on the play to put the Rascals up 8-0.
Florence tallied two runs in the seventh on RBI grounders by Gaby Juarbe and Chance Ross.
The Rascals finished off their scoring with a run in the eighth on a RBI grounder.
Cole Miles and Adam Taylor each tallied a pair of hits but the Freedom left seven men on base in the loss.
