Display of Power Gives Aviators Double-Header Sweep

LOVES PARK, IL - The Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, used a serious display of power as they swept the double-header with the Frontier Greys tonight at Aviators Stadium.

Game 1

The Aviators used three home runs and set five single-game team records in a 13-2 rout of the Greys.

Dusty Robinson, Kenny Bryant, and Kyle Dhanani each homered for the Aviators totaling five runs driven in as the Aviators scored in every inning except the first and the seventh.

Michael Hur also added three RBIs of his own as he finished the night 3-5 with a run scored.

Ryan Zimmerman began the game tonight in the top of the fourth inning for the Aviators and pitched six innings, the most by a relief pitcher this season, and allowed two runs on four hits while walking two and striking out five.

The Aviators set new single-game team records in six different categories: most hits in a game (17), most home runs in a game (3), most walks by Aviators batters in a game (9), most innings pitched by a reliever (6), and largest winning margin (11).

Game 2

Three more home runs highlighted a 9-1 victory as the Aviators swept the double-header with the Frontier Greys.

Edgar Corcino recorded his tenth long ball of the year in the bottom of the first inning to give the Aviators a 2-0 lead over the Greys.

In the bottom of the third inning, Robinson had his second home run of the night, a solo shot that led off the inning that was followed by RBI hits from Brian Bistagne and Kalaika Kahoohalahala to put the Aviators up 5-0.

Ryan Breen went 0-3 in the game before blasting his fourth home run of the season, a three-run shot, in the bottom of the sixth inning that helped boost the Aviators to a 9-0 lead.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Greys loaded the bases on a walk and two singles before scoring their only run of the game on a RBI single by John Dzombia to make the score 9-1.

Tony Butler earned his first win as an Aviator, pitching six innings and allowing one run on five hits while walking and striking out four batters.

The Aviators will look for the sweep to wrap up the 2014 season tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. at Aviators Stadium.
