Southern Illinois Miners News Release
Marion, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Miners have won their second-ever division championship, finishing with the best record in the East division!
As a result, they receive a bye into the best-of-three Division Series round of the 2014 Frontier League Playoffs! They will open the series on the road on Monday, September 8th against one of the two remaining teams that are victorious in the Wild Card round. They will then host Game 2 at Rent One Park on Wednesday, September 10th, as well as Game 3 (if necessary), which will take place on Thursday, September 11th.
The winners of both division series will then move on to face each other in the best-of-five 2014 Frontier League Championship Series, which will begin at the home site of the higher-seeded team remaining on Saturday, September 13th. The higher-seeded team will also host Game 2 on Sunday, September 14th. The series will shift to the site of the lower-seeded team for Games 3 and 4 (if necessary) on Tuesday, September 16th and Wednesday, September 17th, before returning to the site of the higher-seeded team for Game 5 (also if necessary) on Friday, September 19th.
ALL playoff games at Rent One Park will start at 7:05 p.m. CDT, with ticket pricing remaining the same for all games as the regular season. The Miners' opponent for the division series will be determined by the final results of the one-game Wild Card round on Saturday, September 6th.
