Traverse City Beach Bums News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Casey Delgado punched out 10 Windy City ThunderBolts over seven innings, but Windy City was able to battle through and strike for a 4-3 walk-off win in 10 innings over the Traverse City Beach Bums on Wednesday night at Standard Bank Stadium.

Delgado, who entered the night with 108 strikeouts, ran into some trouble in the first inning by allowing three runs on four hits, but struck out to side to keep it at a three-run margin. After the rough beginning, the All-Star righthander cruised through seven innings, giving up just one hit over his final six frames. Delgado punched out 10 batters across his seven innings, moving him into the Frontier League lead with 118 K's and one night to go in the season. It was the fourth time this year he had struck out 10 or batters in a game.

Traverse City dug into the three-run deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. Greg Harisis brought home the first run on an RBI groundout before Jeff DeBlieux singled home the second run of the frame to make it 3-2 in the second.

The score remained that way until the seventh when Traverse City tied the game. With runner at first and second, Yazy Arbelo lifted a fly ball to left that Daniel Aldrich slipped trying to catch, allowing the ball to land, which scored DeBlieux with the tying tally. Catcher's interference loaded the bases but Kevin Taylor grounded into a double play to end the inning.

In the last of the 10th inning, Ryan Soares reached on a one-out error by Josh Miller and Max White immediately made the Beach Bums pay with a double down the right field line that scored Soares, giving Windy City the walk-off win.

Jessie Snodgrass (3-1) picked up the win for the ThunderBolts with four innings of relief, allowing a run on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Chuck Ghysels (2-5) took the loss, giving up the unearned winning run on one hit with three K's in 1.1 innings.

The Beach Bums and ThunderBolts finish the season on Thursday at 8:05 p.m. Ian MacDougall (6-3, 3.06) will make his final start for TC while WC will go with Pete Whittingslow (0-1, 4.57). Fans can listen to the broadcast starting at 7:45 p.m. on Classic Rock the Bear 98.1/107.1 and classicrockthebear.com.
