Four-Run Eighth Lifts Aviators over Crushers

LOVES PARK, IL- The Rockford Aviators were out for revenge against the Lake Erie Crushers, who walked-off against the Aviators in their last two meetings, and they certainly got it.

The Aviators (19-19) presented by Pearson, used a four-run eighth inning to rally back and beat the Lake Erie Crushers (20-20) Tuesday night, 4-3.

Kyle Brueggeman got the start for the Aviators and pitched seven innings while allowing five hits and three runs. He struck out six batters, but allowed two home runs in his outing and earned the no-decision.

After five scoreless innings the Crushers were the first team to put runs on the board. After a double by Kevin Franchetti, Emmanuel Quiles hit a two run home run to break the tie, giving the Crushers a 2-0 lead.

The Crushers were at it again in the seventh inning when Anderson Hidalgo hit a solo homer to right field, making the Crushers lead, 3-0.

The Aviators put on their rally caps in the eighth inning.

Edgar Corcino hit a RBI double to left center that scored Kalaika Kahoohalahala. Brian Bistagne equalized the game with a two run homerun, his first of the season, which tied the game at 3-3.

Mason Morioka hit a RBI single that scored Tyger Pederson that served to be the game-winning run.

Gerardo Sanchez came on in the ninth inning for the Aviators and retired the Crushers in order to pick up his tenth save of the year.

The Aviators continue their series against the Crushers tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Tomorrow night is Read Around the Bases & Guaranteed Win Wednesday at the Stadium. Kids who have completed the Read Around the Bases program will receive free admission to the game. If the Aviators fail to win the game, every fan in attendance can use their ticket stub for admission to any other Wednesday home game during the 2014 season.
