
Slammers Postponed by Rain on Wednesday in Schaumburg

Joliet Slammers News Release
The Joliet Slammers-Presented by ATI Physical Therapy-were postponed by rain Wednesday night in Schaumburg. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader in Schaumburg next Saturday the 12th starting at 5pm. Tomorrow night's contest remains a 6:30pm start to conclude the series against the Boomers.
Greg Billo, the Sandburg HS grad, was scheduled to start for Joliet on Wednesday and will now take to the mound on Thursday for the Slammers. Before the game, the Slammers added left-handed pitcher, Tyler Thicke, to the roster. The native of Wisconsin just finished up his senior season at UW-Milwaukee. Prior to that he played in the D2 Junior College World Series with Madison College. Thicke starred at Germantown HS where he pitched a no-hitter on the Varsity as a freshman and pitched in the Wisconsin All-Star Game at Miller Park as a sophomore.
Grant DeBruin will enter tomorrow night's game on a hot streak. He has hit safely in 13 of the last 14 Slammers games and leads the team with 51 hits. He is currently 8th in the Frontier League in batting average at .340. Max Casper has also been on a tear, having hit safely in 19 of his last 21 games. The team's batting average has improved by almost 30 points in just over two weeks, moving to .252
The Slammers will return home for 4th of July weekend against Evansville. There will be fireworks after the games on Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th as well. The Righteous Hillbillies will perform in the Beer Garden after the game on Saturday. Sunday the 6th will be a Bark in the Park day starting at 1:05pm. Slammers action this summer will be broadcast live on 1340 WJOL and wjol.com and the audio/video feed of home games this season can be seen at independentprofessionalbaseball.com.
