ALLENTOWN, PA. - The Indianapolis Indians and Lehigh Valley IronPigs split an unconventional doubleheader on Saturday night. The IronPigs prevailed 4-1 in the completion of Friday's suspended game, while the Tribe rallied for the 5-1 victory in the regularly scheduled contest that followed.

Suspended Game:

On Friday night, the Indians (67-58) took an early lead in the top of the first inning. Max Moroff clubbed a one-out home run just ahead of the rain. Starter J.T. Brubaker worked a scoreless first inning for the Tribe. The tarp was called for in the pouring rain in the second and the game was pushed to Saturday.

Dylan Cozens was the first Lehigh Valley (75-50) player to bat on Saturday, and he tripled to start the bottom of the second. He later scored on Mitch Walding's sacrifice fly to tie the game.

Aaron Altherr put the IronPigs in front for good with a solo home run in the fourth. It sailed over the left-field wall and gave Lehigh Valley the 2-1 lead.

Cozens tripled again in the sixth inning and scored on Walding's double. Former Indians outfielder Danny Ortiz blasted a solo home run to right field in the eighth to salt the lead, 4-1.

Cole Irvin (12-4) got the win. He was scheduled to start Friday, but Lehigh Valley used a reliever until the game was suspended, allowing Irvin to pickup the game Saturday. Tyler Eppler (12-6) took the loss.

Game Two:

A wild game two followed shortly after game one concluded. The Indians struck first with a single by Eric Wood in the second inning.

The 1-0 lead held up until the bottom of the sixth. Cozens opened the frame with a double and then scored on a single by Collin Cowgill to tie the game. Cowgill tried to steal second base later in the rally, but he was thrown out by Jacob Stallings to end the inning.

The seven-inning contest went to extras, where the Indians erupted for four runs in the top of the eighth. Wood began the frame at second base, and he scored to give the Indians back the lead on Jose Osuna's infield single. The bases were loaded when Stallings was hit by a pitch to force in a run, and the frame was capped by Jerrick Suiter's two-run single one batter later.

With the nightcap win and a Columbus loss, the Indians moved back into a tie for first place in the International League's West Division.

Indy will conclude the road trip on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. The team returns to Victory Field on Tuesday, August 21.
